It seems January might not be the best month to start new resolutions - I think it would be much easier to motivate myself the kids to spend hours playing outdoors in beautiful sunshine and picnic weather. But not of this play malark was meant to be easy right? And when life gives you lemons...
...paint in the rain!
I mentioned on our Facebook that we were looking for rainy day ideas, and a reader who lives in far sunnier climates than South London mentioned that when they have warm downpours she lets her kiddos body paint outside. And that got me thinking, about how we could do some painting and add some colour to the grey day.
So off we went to the park, with our brushes, a bunch of cereal box canvasses and a set of watercolour paints. And the kiddos dipped their brushes in puddles and painted beautiful masterpieces while the skies fell down on us.
I lovelovelove watercolour paintings, they look so dreamy - all our creations look like beautiful rainbows! I definitely need to think up some more ways for us to take our art outdoors. Any suggestions guys? How do you like to brighten up a rainy day?

ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte & thanks for linking up to the outdoor play link up too this week. We had links with a Norwegian kindergarten & they sent us photos of playing with powder paints in the rain & my class thought this was a great idea. We now do this regularily & it is so much fun but I had never thought of the water colours!
